Two widows enter the town,And if one returns bitterly
The younger has brought honey.
She goes empty to the field,
Returns not only with her gleanings
But with food reached by the owner.
She goes needily to the threshing-floor;
Returns, not only with a cloakful of corn
But a heartful of promise.
He goes to the city gate:
Returns as the redeemer
And bridegroom.
Such a message of hope for all of us, David. I do hope and pray you are celebrating during this Advent season!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I don't put much weight on Christmas, though I trust that it brings some to consider the wonder of the incarnation.
DeleteAmen. Beautiful how you put the verses together. I love the story of Ruth and Boaz. Blessings and may Bethlehem prosper once more in all its glory and may the light of Messiah shine bright there!
ReplyDeleteAll the people at the gate and the elders said, “We are witnesses. May Adonai make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, who both built up the house of Israel. May you prosper in Ephrath and be renowned in Bethlehem. Ruth 4:11
The previous comment is from me. Blessings and Shalom.
