COUPLET

Christ wins my heart through His humiliation;
And satisfies it through His exaltation.

NOW

The One through whom God's love is know
Who met death in its awesome power
And triumphed n the darkest hour
Is on the Father's throne.

From Him the Spirit of the living God
Has come on saints who have been set apart
To do God' will, and be within each heart
To shed God's love abroad.

The Spirit's work makes their affections burn
In love for Christ and they remember Him
By breaking bread, to keep their hearts in trim,
Until He shall return.

HE HAS ASCENDED

He has ascended that, through grace,
We might acquire a heavenly place;
He has ascended to appear
For Christians in their need down here.
He has ascended to bestow
His Spirit on His saints below;
He has ascended to bestow
The gifts by which His church will grow.

BURIAL AND RESURRECTION

He lay entombed, gone out of view That we might have life which is new; And God has raised the One who died, That sinners might be justified; He died and lived again to gain The right - for dead and live - to reign; He rose again that God might keep And raise again the saints who sleep; He rose again that we might know Our Father, whom He came to show. HE SUFFERED AND HE DIED

He suffered through men's wilfulness
On the account of righteousness;
He suffered to be qualified
To be our priest as glorified;
He suffered in His love for me
And bore my sins upon the tree;
He gave Himself for us to ensure
He had a people who were pure;
He died to gain, through God's great plan
The Bride to answer to the Man.

HE CAME

He came to meet the sinner's need
That those in bondage might be freed;
He came that we, His sheep, should know
Abundant life while here below;
He came as sent, that we, through grace
Should have the joy of sonship's place.
He came in order to fulfil
The depths and fulness of God's will.

Journeyings

Hi, folk! Off to India today. I have left some guidance for Rosie to do the postings I have drafted - but she's not sure where the on switch is let alone anything else! And my draftings will, I find, be posted to the day they were drafted and not, as I had hoped, to the day published.

Pray for me!

ELIAB

That boy! What’s he doing here
Leaving the sheep to the wilderness?

Where’s the kid off to now?
Seeing the king!

What does the lad look like
Happed up in a real man’s armour!

But look now - that youth is off
To play giant-killer!

See him - a young man against
An experienced man of war!

Here, did you see what my brother
Did to Goliath?

What a man!

HIS GLORY

What glory, Lord, was Thine
Before the worlds began:
Ineffable, divine,
Beyond the mind of man.
We bow to Thy divinity,
Both from and to eternity.

What glory has been seen
In Thy descending grace,
Thy lowly mind and mien
That took a bondman's place.
Through Thy down‑stooping Thou didst show
Thy moral glory here below.

Upon the cross of shame
What glory was displayed!
Though haters scorned Thy Name,
Though lovers were dismayed:
When Thou, O Lord, wast crucified
The Son of Man was glorified.

We see Thy glory shine
As at the greatest height:
The Father made it Thine
For Thou art His delight
And now the Spirit's power is known
Since Thou art on the Father's throne.

What glory Thou dost give
To those Thou hast acquired,
Who in Thee newly live,
And whom Thou hast desired
To be with Thee that they may see
The glory God has given Thee.
