I HAVE ...

I have a Saviour who was crucified

To bear my sins, and answer all my needs;

I have a Great High priest who intercedes

Before God's face, where He is glorified.

I have a Father who is gratified

To listen as my Intercessor pleads;

I have a Father, and His Son now leads

Sons before Him, and He is satisfied.

I have the Spirit and He sheds abroad

The love of God to satisfy my heart;

I have the power to take my heavenly part

Through Him, the Spirit of the living God.

I have the present knowledge of God's love

I have a home in realms that are above.

OBEDIENCE

Where human sinfulness displayed

Unprincipled expedience

God's heart rejoiced as Christ portrayed

The glory of obedience.

His moral excellences shone

In freshly-shining beauties

As He, to do God's will, took on

A bondman's form - and duties.

Eternally His saints shall know

His graces in perfection;

Eternally the Son will show

The radiance of subjection.

NOW

The One through whom the love of God is known

Who vanquished death in its tremendous power

And triumphed for us in the darkest hour

Is on the Father's throne.

From Him the Spirit of the living God

Has come on saints who have been set apart

To do God's will, and be within each heart

To shed God's love abroad.

The Spirit's work makes their affections burn

In love for Christ and they remember Him

By breaking bread, to keep their hearts in trim,

Until He shall return.

COUPLET

Christ wins my heart through His humiliation;

And satisfies it through His exaltation.

STATELY STEP

Advancing, undaunted,

Jesus, portrayed by John,

Faced down the Pharisees,

Faced Pilate, went forth - to

Golgotha - bearing the cross; lion

Turning not aside for any.

But Mark shows Him advancing

In service; forthright still

For God's will and men's blessing,

Bound to bondmanship, caring,

Doing all things well - one

Girt in the loins.

Reverting to prayer, reverting,

As custom, to the mount of Olives

He went - in Luke's account -

Separated from sinners, yet for them,

With the stately step right

For the he-goat.

On the royal line,

Legally and morally, goes

In divinely chosen comeliness

Through Matthew's account: a king -

Then, now, and coming - against whom

None can rise up.

UNALTERABLY

Unalterably

I am of the lineage

And the stock of Christ.

HOLY SPIRIT

We know what God has thought

In love, through revelation,

By Thee, blest Spirit.

We find we have been taught

Divine communication

By Thee, blest Spirit.

We see these things inwrought

In spiritual formation

By Thee, blest Spirit.
