A Version of Caedmon's Hymn

Let's begin praising  heaven-kingdom's Guard

Mightiness God uses  and His mind-acts,

Deeds of the glory-Father so He of all wonders

Living Master  set it in motion.

He firstly made  for men's children

Heaven as a roof,  Holy Maker,

Then middle world, mankind's Guard.

Living Master  later created

For Mankind,  Lord almighty.

Caedmon's Hymn is the oldest recorded Old English poem: see British Library  I have tried to approximate the rhythms of the OLd English - so far as I can work them out!

  1. Wow, the oldest recorded poem - now, that's truly impressive, David!

  2. It's Marie from Arizona. Very nice.

  3. Very nice. Nice to go back to the old things.

I'm glad to hear how this strikes you!
