"I AM ..."

"I am the way" -
Our pilgrim footsteps
Have guidance where they should go;

"I am the truth"
And the renewed mind
Runs to what it should know.

"I am the life":
From that source
Vivacious movements flow.

"I am the true vine";
Grafted to Him
Leaves sprout, fruits grow.

"I am the door" -
No longer need we
Wend to and fro.

"I am the good shepherd" -
See all He was ready
To undergo!

"I am the light of the world"
And all who choose to
Flourish in His glow.

FORMATION

To Judas, sat among the twelve
To hear the Lord’s sublime narration
The word, because it dig not delve
Into him, was just information.

It delved in Peter, found the rock,
Establishing a fresh creation,
Staunchly withstanding Satan’s shock
Since what it built was God’s formation

“Be as I am!” Paul could exclaim
Because the Lord in exaltation
Had filled his sight till he could claim
He was like Christ by conformation.

THE GRACE OF OUR LORD

(A Psalm)

He did not wreak upon me His holy judgment
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

He looked on me kindly, despite my condition
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

"Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

He came to give Himself "a ransom for many"
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

He displayed on earth manhood according to God
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

And showed God's kindness to those who were poor and sick
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Thus He set His face to go to Jerusalem
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Although He knew He would suffer man's rejection
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

And "He bore our sins in His body on the tree"
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Death was upon me, but Christ took that penalty
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

He shed His precious blood for remission of sins
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

He was buried to remove the offending man
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Then Jesus was raised for our justification
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

And took His place above to intercede for us
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

The Holy Spirit came to restrain evil
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

And to shed abroad in our hearts the love of God
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Soon the Lord is coming to conform us to Himself
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Let the redeemed give glory to the Redeemer
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Let the sanctified exalt the Sanctifier
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded";

Let us rejoice in the God of our salvation
For "the grace of our Lord surpassingly over-abounded"!

GIVER

He gave Himself to ransom me,
He gave His life that I might live,
He gave in grace that I might see,
He is a Man who loves to give.

He gave me life, He gave me light,
He gave me righteousness and peace;
He gave me grace and power and sight:
He gives me joys that will not cease.

He gave His Spirit from above,
He gave adornment to his bride:
He gave me love - He gives her love
And gives a place at His own side.

He loves to give, he loves to bless,
His grace flows towards me like a river;
My heart goes out in thankfulness
That through His gifts I learn the Giver.

That's a blessing; and if not
That's a blessing too.

The Firth is narrow
But its waters remind me
That the sea is near.

Close to where I live you can see the Firth of Forth - the estuary of the river forth; just one of the blessings of nature to me.

OH WHAT WILL IT BE TO SEE JESUS

Oh what will it be to see Jesus
The Man who enraptures my heart?
I'll gaze on His face
And drink in His grace
And know I will never depart.

In mercy and grace He has saved me
Enduring both darkness and pain;
In sorrow and loss
He died on the cross
That I might have pleasure and gain.

He gives me the sense of His presence
And cheers me with touches of love
But soon it will be
With joy I will see
My Saviour as with Him above.

Oh what will it be to see Jesus
And gaze on His face evermore
To find in that sight
Eternal delight:
To worship, admire and adore!

Here are the words - I've posted them before, but i think I'll be into repeats in a few weeks' time.  If anyone can set my attempt at song-making in harmony I'd be delighted .

1,000th Post; Time for a song.

Since my posts are mainly copying and pasting the verse written in the last forty years it's easier for me to post than for others.  But still, 1,000 posts deserves something a bit special - so I've decided to sing you a song.  Not that I'm any great singer - I'm looking forward to that in my body of glory!  But I like the psalms that says, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord".  Although some of you may say it's not even that.

Thank you for your visits and your support.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits!

QUESTIONS

“How shall this be?” the virgin asked
When told of how she had been tasked.
“The Spirit” Gabriel said, “shall be
On thee, and power will shadow thee”.

“Where is the King?” the magi said,
Expecting some soft royal bed;
His star led to the Lord of all
Laid in a manger in a stall.

“Who then is this?” whispering in awe
Those on the sea with Jesus saw
The calm His speaking spread abroad
And recognised the Son of God.

“When shall He die?” the world replied,
Only content when Jesus died;
Yet we can gladly understand
The time, and death, were in god’s hand.

“Why dost thou weep?” The risen Man
Showed care that was not other than
Care shown before - while now He could
Bring saints into new realms of good.

“What shall I do?” the jailer called,
Fearing as one whom sin enthralled;
No longer fearful and depraved,
Through faith in Jesus He was saved.
