THOUGHTS ON MICAH A

Micah 1: 15

Israel's glory in due time will come

Unto Adullam, the secure retreat

Where David once awaited Saul's defeat:

The warp will be united to the thrum.

Rejoice that Israel's glory in due time

Will come unto Adullam in sublime

New cloth of God's millennial paradigm.

Micah is a great prophet; I wrote some half-sonnets on verses in Micah here:

Grace Notes: THOUGHTS ON MICAH: I (dcbverse.blogspot.com)

This begins a further series of thoughts on Micah, while I have some other Micah scattered through my postings.

A Version of Caedmon's Hymn

Let's begin praising  heaven-kingdom's Guard

Mightiness God uses  and His mind-acts,

Deeds of the glory-Father so He of all wonders

Living Master  set it in motion.

He firstly made  for men's children

Heaven as a roof,  Holy Maker,

Then middle world, mankind's Guard.

Living Master  later created

For Mankind,  Lord almighty.

Caedmon's Hymn is the oldest recorded Old English poem: see British Library  I have tried to approximate the rhythms of the OLd English - so far as I can work them out!

RAISIN-CAKES

The vine had budded, blossomed and produced

Its grapes; they had been picked, and dried and pressed

And brought to David’s men, where they conduced

To show the graces Abigail expressed.

So some were given to the Egyptian slave

In his distress, so that his soul grew strong;

As brought back from the frontier of the grave,

He led against those who did David wrong.

Thus David, when he came to celebrate

The ark of God borne to a settled place

Gave with the bread and wine, joy was so great,

A raisin-cake as token of God’s grace.

And now sustaining food from the True Vine

Through grace and pressure may be yours and mine!

Did you heed the word God spoke?

Did you heed the word God spoke?

May His grace be told!

Did you know God's word awoke?

Lo! His grace was bold!

Christ grew as a tender shoot

May His grace be told!

Desert sands around His root

Lo! His grace was bold!

Holden eyes could not discern

May His grace be told!

Beauties God would have us learn

Lo! His grace was bold!

Darkened hearts would not esteem

May His grace be told!

Beauties which are heaven's theme.

Lo! His grace was bold!

Now my lightened heart can see

May His grace be told!

What He bore He bore for me

Lo! His grace was bold!

We like sheep have gone astray

May His grace be told!

Only Jesus walked God's way

Lo! His grace was bold!

He has borne the sins of all

May His grace be told!

Who in faith have heard His call

Lo! His grace was bold!

As a lamb led out to die

May His grace be told!

He made no complaining cry

Lo! His grace was bold!

He was captured and oppressed

May His grace be told!

So that I am freed and blessed

Lo! His grace was bold!

Who shall tell Messiah's seed?

May His grace be told!

Those who have been blessed and freed

Lo! His grace was bold!

From the land of those who live

May His grace be told!

Cut off: so God may forgive

Lo! His grace was bold!

For the evils of my folk

May His grace be told!

Christ has borne God's judgment stroke

Lo! His grace was bold!

Men assigned a felons grave

May His grace be told!

God ensure a rich man's cave

Lo! His grace was bold!

He had done no violence

May His grace be told!

He spoke no malevolence

Lo! His grace was bold!

By God's will His Christ was bruised

May His grace be told!

By man's will He was abused

Lo! His grace was bold!

He became an offering

May His grace be told!

From that death what seed shall spring

Lo! His grace was bold!

Long is His life in that land

May His grace be told!

God's joy burgeons in His hand

Lo! His grace was bold!

Seed is sprouting since He died

May His grace be told!

And His heart is satisfied

Lo! His grace was bold!

God would have this Man to teach

May His grace be told!

Who through grace stood in the breach

Lo! His grace was bold!

God would have Him celebrate

May His grace be told!

Sharing with the strong and great

Lo! His grace was bold!

Reckoned with those who transgress

May His grace be told!

He poured out His soul to bless

Lo! His grace was bold!

He bore sin for souls in need

May His grace be told!

Listen to Him intercede

Lo! His grace was bold!

This concludes consideration of Isaiah 53, begun before Covid was an issue but somehow appropriate for a year when there has been so much suffering.

For the Son of man

On our behalf has poured out
